Hello sweet friends!!! Two weeks, no blog post! I was unfortunately in a car accident last week and this past week has been very tough – my emotions are everywhere, the pain is still constant and my appointment list only continues to grow. But, I have been supported and surrounded an incredible amount with prayers, and my loved ones for which I am overwhelmingly thankful. I am and I know I will continue to learn about patience, trust and fully relying on the Lord and believing day in and day out that I need to put all my hope in Jesus because that is ENOUGH.
What has been filling my cup this week is that I will always fall short. But with Him, we still receive the fullness of His glory. We lack with productivity in our jobs, or in our homes. We struggle with an eating disorder, anxiety attacks, or even something unknown to everyone in our lives we don’t want anyone to know about. I’m reading through the book of Galatians and Barnabas fell into the ways of unbelief and Paul recognizes his short-falling. He questions Barnabas’ intentions. The chapter goes on to teach us how we are not set right with God by rule-keeping but only through our personal faith with our Savior and that no human can please God through self-improvement. What?! Our society is saturated with books, articles and endless resources about how to improve yourself and to focus on yourself. This places the glory on the human. And the human’s reputation, which scripture says doesn’t concern God at all! He isn’t impressed with mere appearances. Paul goes on to say we are set right before God but TRUSTING Him, rather than by trying to be good. Let us strive for Jesus as our example, not a better version of ourselves, because being God’s man, rather than the world’s man, is honoring to Him. Christ’s life shows us and enables us how to be His sons and daughters. One last piece of scripture from Galatians I read was that if a living relationship with God could come by rule-keeping, then Christ died unnecessarily.
Onto the adventure!
One of my best friends and sisters from sorority in college asked if I wanted to get coffee Friday afternoon – I couldn’t say no! I absolutely love having my friends join me on these adventures and Lindsey was equally as excited. We went to Vicinity Coffee near the Lyndale area of Uptown and Glam Doll Donuts which was a few blocks nearby as well!!
Vicinity Coffee was the sweetest lil place! It was so quiet, people were hard at work, and the best part – their menu was KILLER. They even had outdoor seating for us Minnesotans who love to soak up every last bit of warm weather! I got the iced Teddy Bear (how stinkin’ cute!!!) which was one of their specialty lattes with honey, cinnamon and graham cracker crumbles! It was so so so very good. I would definitely get it again! It wasn’t too sugary which I was all about and man, it was just the perfect amount of more natural sweeteners and their espresso was on point. My bff Linds got the iced Shot in the Nutz which was another specialty latte with Nutella and chocolate and hers was seriously amazing as well! The chocolate wasn’t overpowering and it wasn’t too strong of a ‘mocha’ flavor which I was so appreciative of.
We realized there were several donut shops close by and figured, why the heck not! Lindsey is a fellow donut lover, and I love her so much for that! We zipped on over to Glam Doll Donuts and decided to try four donuts and have a bite of each! We tried the Vanilla Starlet, Flirty Frenchie, Sunday Kind of Love and Chocolate Cookie Dough.
The Vanilla Starlet was your classic raised donut with vanilla frosting and cute festive sprinkles, the Flirty Frenchie was was a raised, fun-shaped donut with espresso cream cheese frosting, the Sunday Kind of Love was an old-fashioned donut with a hint of lemon and the Chocolate Cookie Dough was a chocolate cake donut half dipped in chocolate and it was cut in half and basically a chocolate cake donut cookie dough sandwich! All of these donuts were absolutely wonderful and all so different, which I had never really explored before!
I have a hard time straying away from the classic donuts and trying new ones. I think the next step is Glam Doll’s Mac and Cheese Donut!! I also had to try out their Earl Grey tea for the drive home and I have a new favorite tea (the pink lid helped with winning me over to get a drink 110%, too)!
Special shout out to Linds for joining me on this journey – it was such a wonderful afternoon!!
Thank you so much for spending a little bit of your Friday morning with me!
Until Next Time,
